Research Spotlight Series #1 - Urban Lifestyle, Climate‐Driven Environmental Exposures and Health Consequences
Professor Andreas Lopata’s Research Spotlight explores how urban lifestyles and climate-driven environmental changes are reshaping human exposure to allergens and related health risks, particularly across tropical and rapidly urbanising regions. Drawing on his internationally recognised work in molecular allergy, immunology and food safety, he will examine emerging patterns in food and environmental allergies, including the growing burden among adults and ageing populations. Integrating molecular, clinical, and population-level perspectives, the talk highlights how climate change, biodiversity shifts, and urban living intersect to influence immune responses and chronic inflammatory disease. This session underscores the urgency of advancing tropical health research to inform prevention, diagnosis, and policy in a changing global environment.
