Hošek Contemporary is pleased to invite you to "SWAMP", an exhibition by Jacqueline Huskisson.Vernissage - Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 7 PM
Exhibition dates - November 21-23, 2024
Over the last few years, the artist Jacqueline Huskisson has been constructing her own narratives. Creating monsters made of tree bark, plants, animals, and moss, they live in a realm that explores a history of personal trauma and searching for a home. SWAMP explores the idea of what it means to be human and what roles and external concepts we berth upon our creations. Concepts like, what is place and what is the concept of home in relation to our own narratives? What is home? Is it the place you were raised? Is it the place of your ancestors or the people around you? Creating textures of fauna of both Alberta and Berlin, her two homes, Jacqueline is probing and developing the origin of her monsters. Witness the birthing of her creatures, read her comics, and view her animations. Watch as Homunculi form and spew out of the ground like rocks across the floor asking the viewer to waddle through the preverbal SWAMP.
