Our spring salon IT'S A HAPPENING reflects a community of artists and writers as varied and complex as both the college and city in which we make our home. The show, which includes collage, readings, dance, illustration, video, and the music of no fewer than 85 metronomes, highlights a coming together of many forms, inviting the audience into an interactive celebration of all the ways art and literature move, shake, and shape us. This event is FREE and open to the public! Meet the Artists and Writers:
✧ A. Van Jordan is the author of five poetry collections, most recently When I Waked, I Cried to Dream Again.
✧ Faith Adiele is a writer, editor, filmmaker, and critic based in Oakland, California. Her forthcoming book is Her Voice: A Hybrid Memoir. *
✧ Monique Jenkinson (also known as Fauxnique) is an artist, choreographer, drag performer, and the author of the memoir Faux Queen: A Life in Drag.
✧ Addy Gravatte is a collage artist, educator, and poet whose work concerns the body, queerness, and horror.
✧ Sonja Swift is a writer and poet of hybrid forms. She has published a range of poems as well as various articles and photo essays. Her new book is Echo Loba, Loba Echo.
✧ Michael Wertz, Chair of Illustration at CCA, is a prolific illustrator, printmaker, and creative activist.
