All faithful to an old tradition while definitely walking the other side of the street. No Depression Isabel Fryszberg is a hybrid artist (songwriter, painter, therapist) and a storyteller at heart. Her songs explore themes of connection, urban life, family, love and loss. Her Uncommon band highlights some of Toronto’s finest veteran musicians. Over the last year her all women, Uncommon band features Rebecca Campbell (Jane Siberry) Rachel Melas (Swamperella ) Conny Nowe (Swamperella) and Shelley Coopersmith ( Michael O’Grady). This is her second year performing every 4th Saturday of the month from 5-7PM as part of the Tranzac residency program. Isabel’s melodies, include evocative three part harmonies, weave a tapestry of genre-blending folk, with jazz, blues , country and bluegrass influences. Her songs are quirky and reflective, from toe tapping, with some giggles, to honest and deeply human. These include songs of protest to some deeply personal ones. Always a fun time with some surprises!
