About this Event
MIN LALOC, UGANDA
by Achiro P. Olwoch
In a lyrical one-person play, a queer Ugandan exile confronts the ghost of their
Motherland - Uganda - wrestling with love, betrayal, and the burden of memory, as they
unravel what she’s been running from...and why they had to run too.
ZAHRA
by Lama El Homaïssi
In a one-person Hakawati play, Zahra recounts her journey of survival from Crete to
Lebanon, where forced marriage, language loss, and exile become mythical trials she
battles with resilience and imagination.
OH LORD
by Yasmeen
There's a mother in early-2000’s Lebanon who stays up all night calling her sister, thinking
she’s whispering when the whole neighborhood can hear her. And between us? Something
in that living room is boiling harder than the lentils.

Theatre 4the People and Haley Rice is proud to present a festival of new plays, workshops, and community collaborations: a comic horror retelling of the myth of Theseus and the Minotaur, a Punk Rock retelling of Little Women, a woman trying to understand her home country as her mother, an elderly woman waiting for Grace, a true story of how we sometimes have to take care of those who didn’t take care of us, and more!
IRT Theater is a grassroots laboratory for independent theater and performance in New York City, providing space and support to a new generation of artists. Tucked away in the old Archive Building in Greenwich Village, IRT’s mission is to build a community of emerging and established artists by creating a home for the development and presentation of new work.
This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts and the New York State Legislature; New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in Partnership with the City Council; A.R.T./New York’s NYC Small Theatres Fund made possible with support from the Howard Gilman Foundation.
