About this Event
Four Mile Run Park is home to a great diversity of flora and fauna, and invasive plant species reduce this biodiversity as they crowd out the plants that support pollinators, birds, and other wildlife. Using hand tools, volunteers at our invasive removal events will tackle such notable invasives as English ivy, porcelain berry, cutleaf teasel, kudzu, Japanese knotweed, and others.
WHAT TO EXPECT:
· Severe Weather: event will be cancelled if there is a threat of thunderstorms/lightning
· Wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and/or wet
· Youth participants must bring a copy of the liability waiver form signed by a parent/guardian
· Snacks, hand tools, bags, and gloves are provided, though you are welcome to bring your own
WHAT TO BRING:
· Reusable water bottle: please make sure to bring a pre-filled reusable water bottle
· Sunscreen/Hat/Hand Sanitizer: hats and/or sunglasses on safety straps are recommended. Bug repellent if you feel the need for it
Volunteer invasive removal events are made possible through partnership with Arlington Regional Master Naturalists and through support from Patagonia Old Town, Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, and MOM's Organic Market.
