About this Event
Intuitive Nature - Art Workshop
What to Expect:
- Mindful Starting: We’ll begin with a short sensory exercise to ground ourselves and tap into "intuitive" mark-making.
- Layering Techniques: Learn how to build rich, complex backgrounds using acrylic paints and mixed media elements.
- Nature as Inspiration: Utilize botanical references, earthy tones, and organic shapes to inform your composition.
- Freedom of Expression: There are no "mistakes" here—only layers. You’ll be encouraged to follow your instincts and let the artwork evolve naturally.
Who is this for?
Everyone. Whether you haven't picked up a paintbrush since school or you are a practicing artist looking to loosen up your style, this workshop is a safe, supportive space for all skill levels.
What’s Included:
- All professional-grade materials (stretched canvases, heavy-body acrylics, pastels, and textures).
- A selection of foraged natural materials to incorporate into your work.
- Light refreshments will be served to keep the creative energy flowing.
- Your own unique mixed-media masterpiece to take home.
We provide a selection of ethically foraged materials, but feel free to bring a small 'treasure' from your own garden or a recent walk (dried leaves, sand, or interesting twigs) to personalize your piece.
Spaces are kept small to ensure a peaceful environment and plenty of one-on-one guidance. Book your spot today and spend a morning/afternoon creating and connecting with nature.
Agenda
🕑: 10:00 AM - 10:30 AM
Arrival & Grounding
Host: Karo Paszkowska Art
Info: Arrival & Grounding Settle in with a drink. We’ll begin by exploring a curated collection of foraged items—twigs, dried seed pods, moss, and skeletal leaves—to spark inspiration for our color palettes.
🕑: 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM
Raw Textures & Mark-Making
Host: Karo Paszkowska Art
Info: Ditch the traditional brushes for a moment. We’ll use feathers, pinecones, or bundled twigs as "natural brushes" to create raw, unpredictable marks and initial layers on the canvas.
🕑: 11:00 AM - 11:30 AM
Embedding the Earth
Host: Karo Paszkowska Art
Info: This is the mixed media core. You'll learn how to use acrylic gels or pastes to physically embed sand, dried botanicals, or small bark fragments into your painting, creating a 3D landscape.
🕑: 11:30 AM - 12:00 PM
Tea & Reflective Break
Host: Karo Paszkowska Art
Info: Step back and see how the light hits the new textures. A chance to reset and discuss the "intuitive" part of the process with the group.
🕑: 12:00 PM - 01:00 PM
Responding to the Texture
Host: Karo Paszkowska Art
Info: Now we paint around and over our foraged elements. We’ll use washes of color to highlight the natural ridges and shapes we've glued down, bringing the whole composition together.
🕑: 01:00 PM - 01:30 PM
Closing & Drying
Host: Karo Paszkowska Art
Info: Final highlights and a quick "show and tell." You’ll leave with a piece of the outdoors captured in your own unique abstract style.
