To start our watercolor journey together, our teacher, Julie, will introduce students to their new watercolor palette by creating a small color wheel using their newly acquired paint set. This exercise will result in a great reference which students can use to learn how each color looks on paper and will provide a useful backdrop when discussing color theory for the purpose of mixing colors. Following this exercise, students will learn how water is the vehicle that allows the pigment move and travel. To accomplish this, we will create a couple of small paintings using the wet into wet technique and then the wet into dry technique. These techniques are used to create cool watermarks, texture and fluidity within the painting, creating a colorful and spontaneous painting that is unique to watercolor. The duration of this class will be 2 hours.
This class is recommended for ages 13 and up! We will have additional classes to follow - once you have your intro kit, additional classes will come at a lower cost!
