About this Event
Our founder and CEO, Jo, is an avid sock knitter and loves taking her sock knitting everywhere she goes. Once you have got the hang of knitting on four double pointed knitting needles, which looks difficult but really isn't, then there's really no reason why someone who can already do basic knit and purl stitches can't make themselves a pair of lovely, cozy, warm socks which last for years if take care of properly. There are so many fun yarns available today, and a pair of colourful socks can really uplift your mood on dark autumn and winter days.
In the first week of this class, we will get to grips with using the four needles, then cast on and do some ribbing for the cuff of the sock. In between the first and second class, students will be encouraged to knit the leg of the sock so that we will be ready to tackle the heel flap and turn the heel (probably the most challenging part of the project), and then in the third week we will finish off the foot and seamlessly sew the toe area closed. Students will leave with one completed sock and will have the skills to knit a matching sock to match.
