These workshops are part of Light Up Kilburn 2026.


Where: Netherwood Youth and Family Hub, 5 Netherwood Street, Brondesdbury (just off Kilburn High Road), London NW6 2QU


When: Thursday 5th February 2026

Cost: Free

Workshop Times:

Elders 50+ or those who consider themselves elders! (2pm - 3pm)

Year 6 (Closed session) (3.30pm - 5pm)

Teenagers Year 7 - 11 Aged 11 - 16 (5.30pm - 7.30pm)

Do you remember dancing the Maypole as a child or want to learn?

Come along to this introductory workshop led by local artist Linett Kamala.

This joyful introductory maypole dance workshop designed especially for adults aged 50 and over. The relaxed, welcoming session introduces both the traditional and contemporary Jamaican style Maypole dance in a gentle, accessible way with no previous experience required.

Participants will learn simple steps, patterns and rhythms while moving to uplifting music, focusing on coordination, balance and shared enjoyment rather than perfection.

The workshop encourages light physical activity, mental stimulation and social connection, making it ideal for beginners or those returning to movement after a break.

Come along to rediscover the pleasure of moving together in a supportive, friendly environment.


Comfortable clothing and flat footwear is recommended.
