This four-day, hands-on course introduces students to the fundamentals of museum exhibit fabrication in a professional shop environment. Over six hours each day, participants will learn proper shop and machine safety, develop skills with basic hand tools, and explore computer-assisted 2D and 3D drafting. The course also covers material properties and practical considerations for commonly used fabrication materials.
By the end of the course, participants will have a solid foundation in the tools, techniques, and expectations of modern fabrication shops.
Please bring a water bottle, lunch, and snacks daily. Please wear closed toe shoes, pants, no loose-fitting tops, no hanging jewelry, and hair must be tied up.
