About this Event
Within this 3 hour workshop you will receive the knowledge on how to create your own Cyanotypes with objects, and tone them with all natural tannin dyes. Within the three hours there will be an introduction to the process of cyanotypes including history, chemicals used and experience the full process from start to finish including atleast 2 hours of creative flow to make your own cyanotypes.
You are HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to bring your own objects to create a personal touch/ meaning behind your images. Objects with lots of texture/ parts or patterns work best- such as flowers, leaves, shells, twigs, lace fabric, jewellery, glass objects, buttons, cds, plastic bags, anything flat or slightly see-through. I will provide some objects also.
There will also be an opportunity to use natural tannin-dyes (Beetroot, tea, coffee ect…) and the chemical Hydrogen Peroxide to tone your prints. This gives deep tones and alternative colours to the classic “Prussian Blue”. Safety gloves and goggles will also be provided.
Under the instruction of Photographer and Teacher Elsie Garner you will have the opportunity to use objects personal to yourself to create a series of your own unique prints. Estimated 3-5 prints per person varying in A4 and A5 size.
Come to celebrate this creative alternative photography process and make some unique prints!
