Introduction to Buddhism - Understanding Lineage

For more than 40 years, the Columbus Karma Thegsum Choling has been teaching meditation to the public for free at its meditation center in Central Ohio. Now we are offering our Dharma Paths series of introductory Buddhsim courses online.

There are nine classes in the series, but you can start anywhere in the series and take the classes in any order. Each class is taught by one of our trained meditation instructors.

This week's class, titled "Understanding Lineage", covers the following topics:

-How Buddhism spread from India to Tibet.

-The concept of lineage in Buddhism and its significance.

-The history of the major masters of the Kagyu lineage: Tilopa, Naropa, Marpa, Milarepa, Gampopa, and Dusum Khyenpa.

-The relationship of the dharma student to the teacher, the lineage, and the teachings.

There will also be time for questions and discussion.
