Join us for an engaging full day session that will help you feel safer and more confident in managing your personal safety. We cover serious topics, but you’ll find the training fun and enjoyable!Sharpen your skills for spotting potential threats and taking action to avoid or prevent physical violence, as well as how to use physical force to break away when we don't have other options.
As well as teaching you solid physical self-defence skills, we will include educational elements that will help you spot danger signs, assess situations before they get to the stage of physical violence, and be better prepared for the aftermath of high impact events.
Some of the topics we will cover include:
- Situational awareness and threat assessment
- Boundary setting and de-escalation
- Effective striking and defending against strikes
- Dealing with common types of attacks, standing and on the ground
- Understanding different strategies and instinctive responses, including the freeze response.
- The law on self-defence
- Aftermath of a violent encounter
Teaching the workshop will be Linn Haraldsvik, KMG Expert Level 2 and Head Instructor at Rencounter. She brings a wealth of knowledge from her background in teaching krav maga and self-defence skills full-time for over 10 years, locally in Edinburgh, as well as in the Norwegian Armed Forces and internationally for KMG, and for the organisation 500Rising, which specialises in women’s self-defence education.
