This workshop will give you an introduction to acroyoga and partner acrobatics. This practice typically consists of two people training together: a base and a flyer. The former is either positioned in an L-shape with their back on the floor or is standing on their feet while supporting the flyer in the air. To ensure safety, base and flyer are surrounded by at least one spotter who helps to ensure a safe practice environment that prevents injury. Good collaboration between the base, the flyer and the spotter(s) is fundamental and creates a strong bond among everyone involved. Trust, consent and open communication represent the core features of a safe and fun training environment and thus, acroyoga is more than physical activity – it is a tool for social cohesion and personal growth, with impact beyond the practice room. It strengthens mental and physical health.
This workshop will teach you the fundamentals of acroyoga and standing partner acrobatics, including basic poses, its values and how to safely practice by yourselves.
You do not need to bring a partner or any equipment! Make sure to wear comfortable clothes, ideally leggings and T-shirts that aren't too slippery. It is totally fine to wear shorts.
The workshop will be held in English.
About Acroyoga Bergen
Acroyoga Bergen is a non-profit organization running on a volunteer basis. We offer a place to train and meet for everyone who wants to learn and train acroyoga and partner acrobatics. All our offers are completely free. As an association we want to shape an inclusive and diverse community, and we value and accept everyone regardless of gender identity, race, social class, sexual orientation and body appearance. We meet every Sunday from 16:30 to 20:00 at Vitalitetsenteret to practice together. You are welcome to join us any time! No need to sign up or pay any fee. At the moment none of the members of Acroyoga Bergen is a certified acroyoga teacher but we bring in different levels of experience from beginner to advanced.
PROGRAM
Warm up with games (ca. 20 min)
We will start by warming up the whole body with special focus on the joints. To create trust among each other, we will incorporate some games that allow people to get to know each other before starting to practice any poses.
L-base and standing acrobatics poses (ca. 1h20)
The main part of the workshop will focus on basic poses and short flows in L-base and standing positions. We will practice in groups of at least three people and adapt exercises to any level to ensure safety.
Stretching and closing (ca. 15 min)
