A conversation about Two-generation (2Gen) approaches that can inform and support our community's efforts towards families and children.
About this Event

The United Way of Greater Chattanooga is pleased to host Stephanie Brueck-Cassoli, Senior Program Manager with Ascend at the Aspen Institute, for a conversation about Two-generation (2Gen) approaches that can inform and support our community's efforts towards families and children.

What is 2Gen?

Two-generation (2Gen) approaches build family well-being by intentionally and simultaneously working with children and the adults in their lives together. 2Gen approaches center the whole family to create a legacy of educational success and economic prosperity that passes from one generation to the next.

About the 2Gen Approach

2Gen approaches consider whole family units to promote positive outcomes for everyone. By engaging parents and caregivers in policy and program design, we develop holistic, integrated, and equity-focused solutions. This family-centered lens identifies families’ needs and goals, aligning programs to maximize long-term impact.Unlike many programs that focus solely on children or parents, 2Gen approaches integrate services to benefit both. For example, a college program might connect caregivers with childcare, allowing parents to pursue education while supporting their child’s development. Similarly, care centers and workplaces can offer services that support both children and parents, moving towards a two-generation approach.
