About this Event

This will be 's first venture in a new series Into the Unknown!

We have a starting point, O Barros - a Portuguese restaurant near Stockwell Station, and an endpoint, , and the opportunity of seeing , a puppet show by the acclaimed . Follow to learn more about it and buy a ticket (£6) if you are interested. It lasts 50 minutes so if you are not attending the show, your experience with us ends earlier.

We will enjoy a tour of Longfield Hall and after the show, we will meet the founders of String Theatre to find out about their work.

What happens in between will include a meeting at a Portuguese restaurant for a sit down and chat and then an exploration of the area starting from 'Little Portugal'.

Then, we will walk through an area which has been owned by the Minet family of Huguenot origin, the same family we have mentioned on our Discovering Hayes walk. Much of the area is built up now - an estate and a library carry the Minet name. More than this we cannot say now; let us see and talk about what we find on the way.

A few more things:

For this walk we are asking for a donation with a suggestion of £10 to help us organise more events like this.

Apart from learning about the area, we learn about and from one another. Then we go away enriched by a unique experience and maybe having made new friends.

After the walk, you can, if you want to, keep in touch with others through our social media group. We share pictures, memories and knowledge if we wish to. And if you haven't followed us on Eventbrite, or given us a review, please do so, and tell your friends about us!

Pictures are taken during our walks and some of the walk may be recorded so please let us know if you do not want to be included. It's up to you. We like creating memories!

As it is a walking tour, please make sure you wear suitable footwear and clothing.

You take part in our events at your own risk although we take all the precautions to assess the route prior to the walks.

Please email us if you have any questions regarding the walk and check your mailbox before the walk.

Feel welcome to contact us to arrange a bespoke tour for your group.
