About this Event
Learn how to slow down and deepen your connection to plants through drawing and sketching! 🌿🌷✨
We will start by looking at some examples together; we will learn through conversation about how scientists, artists, and naturalists of all kinds have historically used journaling to explore the natural world. Then, we will learn some techniques to draw, sketch, write and diagram. The workshop will end with time to use these new skills and connect with a chosen plant through a guided journaling session.
If you have an unlined journal and beloved drawing implements, please bring them! If not, there will be drawing materials to use.
This program is led by Los Angeles based artist, naturalist and educator Michelle Antonisse. Michelle runs experimental environmental education workshops under the name “Into the Field,” and has published a reflective, at-home-workbook called "Out of the Field." She is currently the Manager of Pedagogy and Practice at The Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA).
