Experience the joy of art by slowing down and taking time to look closely with guided activities. Join staff and docents as they lead viewing of and conversations about Japanese screens. Or learn to make origami with an art-making workshop.

Drop in at any time in our Japanese and Chinese galleries to look closely and discuss artworks with our docents through a slow-looking guide. For all ages.

Participate in an hour-long interactive group conversation while slowing down and looking closely at our collection of serene Japanese screens. Space is limited and on a first come basis. For adults only.


Art-making

Freer Conference Room

12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.

Drop in and learn the traditional Japanese artform origami. Or, come slow down and color Japanese art-inspired coloring sheets. For all ages.
