The first Administrative Appeal is set to be heard on International Midwives Day. This is a midwife who had her license revoked without being given access to the internal agency appeal process within the Department of Public Health.
According to the Department of Health's (DPH) own regulations, professional/clinical questions are to be heard by a peer-review committee if a license is under consideration of revocation. Why? Because DPH attorneys aren't midwives and they do not understand Standard Midwifery Practice.
Our hope is that the Administrative judge recognizes that the internal process is not complete and remands the case back the the ECPC (Midwifery Council- Ethics, Competency and Performance Committee).
Come and show the judge that midwives have community support. We can't speak, but our presence speaks volumes.
