Different from our normal courses, these are workshops taught individually. Each one a skill deep-dive. Pre-requisite: 101 + 102 or 103.
About this Event

Intermediate Improv - 202 is back, with 4 more topics!

Most TBC Improv courses are 8-weeks, this one is different!
For those who want to expand their skills in a certain area, you can dip in where you feel necessary. We run 202 with 4 classes at a time, each an individual core topic. They are standalone themes, and of course, we think they're all equally important!
Together in this series we will explore the skills of improv at a deeper level. We'll look at specific applications and play with differing concepts, to strengthen your improv tool belt. This course is taught in 4-week segments at a time, and topics vary per term. If you've taken our 202 before, this may be different, scroll to check!
This is a supportive and fun environment where you can relax into silliness! Each class will include games and exercises to get us feeling loose and inspire fun, and then dive us into the topic of the day. You will be on your feet, active, trying and playing - laughs are guaranteed!

Core Topics:

  • Creativity
  • Space & Mime
  • Silence
  • Layering

About the Creativity workshop:

Spark your improv creativity! This intermediate workshop uses shortform games to ignite spontaneous ideas and unlock fresh perspectives. We'll focus on generating unique scene concepts, finding unexpected connections, and pushing beyond familiar patterns, all while sharpening your improv skills.
About the Space & Mime workshop:
Unleash your physical imagination! This workshop elevates your improv through focused space work and mime. We'll explore creating vivid environments and characters without words, sharpening your spatial awareness and physical storytelling. Discover how to transform the stage with subtle movements, bringing scenes to life with clarity and impact.
About the Silence workshop:
Harness the power of silence in your improv. This workshop explores how stillness and pauses can amplify your scenes, creating dramatic tension and revealing unspoken truths. Learn to use silence as a tool for character development, emotional depth, and heightened connection, transforming quiet moments into powerful storytelling.

About the Layering workshop:
Build rich, layered scenes in this improv workshop. We'll explore techniques for adding depth and complexity to your work, stacking ideas and concepts to create a tapestry of compelling narratives. Learn to organically introduce new elements, heighten existing themes, and create scenes that resonate with nuance and impact.

Our TBC Course Structure Explained:
Our courses and classes have 2 defining numbers. The first number defines the level.
100 series - Introductory
200 series - Intermediate
300 series - Advanced
etc.
Then the 01, 02, 03 etc. defines the type of class.
101 Intro to Improv (building blocks) |102 Intro to Shortform |103 Intro to Longform

For deep dive classes we place them into the level, and then the type.
These classes are intermediate in our 200 series, and will be taught using a shortform style, 02.
