Join us for a fun, interactive workshop to allow participants to get the most out of their phone cameras

Attendees are encouraged to join in using their own phones to follow along during the workshop.

With over 15 years of professional photography experience, and using both iPhone and Android phones daily, Ian Olsson, professional photographer, always looks forward to sharing his knowledge and answering any questions.

The main points covered are:

-Understanding the camera settings and capabilities of smartphonese – how many cameras does it have and what do they do? What to look for in your next upgrade

-Focus & Exposure – Using manual controls to get sharp, well-lit photos and learning how to use natural and artificial light to their advantage when taking photos with a smartphone for different objects

-Framing & Composition Techniques – Creating depth and creating visually appealing, interesting and balanced images.

-Editing and post-processing: Attendees will learn how to use a variety of software and apps to edit and enhance their smartphone photos. This could include topics such as color correction, cropping, and applying filters.

Outcomes

-Attendees will learn how to take professional-quality photos with their smartphones, as well as how to edit and enhance those photos using a variety of software and apps.

-With the rise of social media and the importance of visual content, being able to take and edit high-quality photos with a smartphone can be a major advantage for businesses. Attendees will learn how to create visually striking content that will stand out on various social media platforms.

-This workshop will be interactive, giving attendees the opportunity to practice their new skills and receive personalized feedback from an experienced instructor.

About the Facilitator

Ian has been a full-time professional photographer for over fifteen years, qualified by the British Institute of Professional Photography. Having a childhood in numerous countries from Bahrain and Brunei, to Turkey and Thailand inspired a love for travel and photography. He enjoys capturing a wide range of subjects, from weddings and events to theatre, corporate headshots and showcasing small independent businesses.

Ian has been working with Indie Cambridge, who set up to champion SMEs and sole traders to show the diversity there is in Cambridge and to create a real community. Ian is the principle photographer and loves working with local people to showcase their businesses and talents. Indie Cambridge now has a successful membership program and print run of 5000 magazines delivered locally twice a year, full of Ian’s photos.
