Bio:
Danaka Janell is singer/songwriter whose music tends to be a fusion of R&B, hip hop, rock & neo-soul. Born in Yonkers and raised in the Bronx, Danaka discovered her love for music at a young age. The singer/songwriter started pushing her pen at the age of 9. Danaka started singing as a Musical Theatre major in high school, where she began to discover her voice. Her first performance as an independent artist was in a church parking lot at the age of 17, influenced by such icons as Beyoncé, Prince & Jill Scott. She’s been blessed to have touched the stages of B.B. King’s, the Triad, Inspired Word and many open mics throughout the city. Through her music, Danaka shares her unique stories and emotions- hoping to crack open the door of healing within others. She hopes with her music that people realize, though unique individually, we’re more connected than we think.
