Dr. Dana Ross, MD, MSc, FRCPC, serves as a psychiatrist and clinician-educator within the Trauma Therapy Program at Women's College Hospital and is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto (U of T). Driven by a genuine passion for healthcare innovation, Dr. Ross explores virtual healthcare delivery solutions and advocates for relationship-centred care approaches. Dr. Ross is currently leading two research initiatives aimed at expanding care options for individuals with complex trauma in Ontario and a third study focused on implementing virtual education in trauma-informed care for healthcare staff. In her clinical practice, she provides trauma-focused group psychotherapy to adult survivors of adverse childhood experiences. Having graduated from the Education Scholars Program at the U of T's Centre for Faculty Development and the Master Educator program offered by the Association for Academic Psychiatry, Dr. Ross remains dedicated to continuous learning and improvement. As a First Nations physician, she finds fulfillment as a mentor to medical learners in the Diversity Mentorship Program at the U of T.

This seminar will examine the effectiveness of psychoeducation as a scalable, evidence-based intervention for PTSD and adverse childhood experiences, featuring insights from our recent randomized-controlled trial at Women’s College Hospital. We will emphasize the urgent need for virtual and hybrid treatment solutions that are not only easy to implement but also widely accessible and cost-effective.
