About this Event
Create your own unique card and bookmark design while learning the basics of ink and watercolour painting in this beginner-friendly workshop! Participants will learn brush techniques and landscape painting taught by local artist Lizzie Wharton to create personalized final pieces. Bring your own landscape photos to reference, use the references provided, or use your imagination and let the materials bring it to life. All materials will be supplied, so just bring your creativity and desire to learn! Working with ink can get messy, so please come in clothes you don't mind getting a bit dirty.
Lizzie is a graduate from Alberta University of the Arts (2025) and has been specializing in ink wash painting for three years. Her work focuses on local wildlife, and she has been trained in the sumi-e technique of Japanese ink painting by landscape artist Hiroshi Shimazaki. Lizzie has been hosting informal make-and-take workshops at the Alberta Craft Council for the past year and is looking forward to teaching her class!
This workshop will take place at the Treehouse, 4th floor at Cspace.
