***FREE Informal workshops for Club Referees and Club Linesperson Monday 16th February 2026***
For the last eight years NDYAL have been running an informal workshops for Club Referees and Club Linesperson which have proved to be very popular. We are pleased to announce a new free workshop on Monday 16th February 2026 at the Cobblers Sixfields Stadium (indoors).
As you know each weekend teams (U11-18) must supply a club linesman for every game. A club referee is a volunteer from either the home or away team who steps in when an official referee is not available, or referees one of our many mini-games (U7-10).
There will be no formal qualification at the end, but hopefully the workshop will help build confidence. We would recommend a lower age limit of 14 as this is the minimum age for a referee. For the younger participants, your ‘driver’ is welcome to stay; free hot drinks will be available and the bar will be open.
We are always going to need club linesmen and are often short of referees so the more assistance we can provide the volunteers who step in the better for all concerned. Without them, games cannot be played.
The evening will comprise of 2 sessions, one straight after the other. You may attend just one, but I would recommend both to get a good overview of officiating.
It will start at 7.00pm with a session on Club linesperson, have a short break and then continue with a session on club referees. We expect to finish by 9.00pm at the latest.
