A fun music group aimed at supporting the development of communication and social skills of pre-school children with a SEND diagnosis.
About this Event

Do you have a pre-school child with additional needs (who has a diagnosis or is on the pathway for diagnosis) who would benefit from engaging within a fun music group aimed at supporting development of their communication and social skills?

Then this programme run by a HCPC Registered Music Therapist with support from members of the Kingsthorpe Family Hub will be of interest to you.

Sessions will involve use of a range of percussion instruments with structured musical activities to support cognitive, social and physical development and use of action songs to promote communication and language development.

There will be time to meet other parents over refreshments and to speak to the Music Therapist.

Members of the Family Hub Team and other healthcare professionals will join us for some of the sessions.

Feedback from recent pre-school SEND music therapy groups run by Thomas’s Fund

‘At the beginning of the course my child was very hesitant about the session. He was like a

different child by the last session. Eye contact, engaging, sitting in the circle

independently. He came on so well. Would love the opportunity for him to do more of these sessions.’

‘‘My child doesn’t ever involve in group activities but as soon as he heard Esther & her music he absolutely loved it & every week joined in which surprised me. He loved playing along to the keyboard with her and dancing & it was lovely to see him so happy and joining in & enjoying himself"
