On Monday, January 19, 2026, Indivisible Mid Maine will host an event to commemorate the life, work, and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This educational and celebratory event, which is free and open to the public, will include group singing of freedom songs, light snacks, conversation, and the screening of a documentary about a key moment in Dr. King's transformative life.
Please plan to join us at The Playhouse at Waterville Station (17 Railroad Square, Waterville) from 1-4pm.
This is a free event to attend. If you are able, please consider bringing a donation of new or gently used warm socks, hats, gloves, mittens, and the like for our struggling community members, in honor of Dr. King's 1968 Poor People's Campaign and its modern (since 2018) reboot under the leadership of Rev. Dr. William J. Barber II and Dr. Liz Theoharis.
If you plan to attend, we ask that you please register at the following link, so we can have a rough head-count to anticipate:

Schedule: 1pm: gather, enjoy some light snacks, background music, and chit-chat in the lobby area.
1:30-2:30: screening of an hour-long documentary.
2:30-3:15: open discussion/Q&A about the film, MLK's work and legacy, etc.
3:15 to 3:45: group singing (led by Stan Davis and Elizabeth Leonard) of freedom songs from Dr. King's time and our own.
3:45: cleanup and departure.
A core principle behind all Indivisible events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values. We expect hosts to ensure all participants in your event uphold this commitment. We recommend all participants review our safety and security resource before your event:
