This intro to stage management course focuses on the practical elements of non-union stage management - we'll touch on some union practises, but this is really for anyone who is looking to learn what an SM does, or is feeling unprepared for their first time taking the reins. Fringe participants are encouraged to join, and we'll talk about the peculiarities of that structure as well.PWYC, open to all, aimed at those with little-to-no-stage management experience, this hands-on, practical workshop will walk you through everything from team hierarchies to schedules, prompt books to calling a show. You'll receive templates you can use for your own shows and are welcome to come with specific questions. Registration is required - follow the link in the "ticket" section.
The workshop will be taught in English by Bygone's Artistic Executive Director, Emily Dix, at VideoCabaret's Deanne Taylor Theatre, 10 Busy St., Toronto. An accessible PDF of the slideshow will be available to all participants. The venue is located on the ground floor and has an accessible washroom - please reach out in advance to [email protected] if you have any accessibility questions or concerns. Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop or notebook for taking notes, but nothing is required.
