This landmark publication is the first comprehensive catalogue of the remarkable collection of incunabula preserved at the National Library and in convent libraries in Malta.
The cataloguing of this heritage began with the pioneering work of Don Mauro Inguanez between 1947 and 1955, which laid the foundations for the scholarly study of incunabula in Malta. The present volume represents the culmination of a meticulous collaborative project undertaken by Maltese and Italian academics, bringing to completion Inguanez’s original effort to identify and document the earliest printed books preserved in Maltese Libraries.
The project was officially sponsored by Malta Libraries, the Bibliographic Society of America, The Malta Map Society, and SiciliAntica Catania.
