About this Event
Fall into the rhythm of the earth, and discover the beauty of change:
The season of Autumn is a time of coming back to the earth; as we transition away from the active, outward energy of Summer and Late Summer, we are invited to draw our energies back to the quiet center.
In recognition of our connection with seasonal shifts and the science and practices of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurvedic principles alike, we invite you along as we take an opportunity to ground down, reflect, and examine our relationship to change.
Join me for a Seasonal Yin Workshop: In The Spirit of Autumn Practice, and celebrate the Fall!
This workshop evokes the abundance of late summer by beginning with a community gathering and guided reflective exercise and transitions to the grounding sentiment of Autumn with a sixty minute Yin class. Yin is a practice of holding passive poses for an extended period of time to work the deeper tissues of the body, support organ health, and balance the qi (our vital life energy) while integrating the energy and elements of the season. This will be a practice in stillness and introspection; an opportunity to release what confines us, and ready ourselves for the heavy sleep- and restoration- of winter.
Following our Autumnal Yin practice, Hannah will guide you through a restorative meditation to promote dynamic sleep, deep relaxation, and inner healing.
Leave this experience with a deeper appreciation for “Aparigraha,” or non-attachment, the strength to shed your leaves, and a sense of physical and mental peace before this coming winter.
This workshop is open to people of all abilities, bodies, and identities, with no previous experience needed. Props will be provided. Please bring a writing utensil and journal or paper and wear comfortable layers.
Why Yin?
Yin’s physical benefits are astronomical- promoting flexibility in sensitive places like the hips and spine, increasing circulation and joint mobility, improving sleep, and stimulating physical recovery. It is also a meditative practice that challenges us to nurture the quietness at the core of who we are, calming our nervous system and providing release from stress and tension. In a world with less and less opportunities for stillness, this workshop aims to provide you space for self-care as we honor our bodies and selves exactly as we are.
Whoever you are, you are welcome. This practice is for you.
Join me as we honor the season, celebrate our bodies, and gather as a community!
A complimentary seasonal tea blend will be available for your pleasure! Stay warm on these foggy SF nights.
