In Honor of Black History Month: Take 5 - All Male Jazz Revue

Detroit, MI — The Preservation of Jazz proudly launches Black History Month with a powerful night of musical excellence as the acclaimed Take Five - All Male Jazz Revue ensemble returns to Aretha’s Jazz Café on Monday, February 2, 2025. This highly anticipated tribute concert celebrates the legendary voices and timeless artistry of Black music through the talents of Detroit’s finest performers.

Hosted by the incomparable Mike Bonner, the evening opens with a soulful performance by Sky Covington, followed by a full-length tribute that brings jazz history to life.

This year’s featured performers include:

• Terry Thomas as Donny Hathaway
• Kenny Watson as Leon Thomas
• Mike Brock as Al Jarreau
• Darren A. Jackson as Billy Eckstine
• David Green as Louis Armstrong
• Man (William Freeman) as Bill Withers

Accompanied by the exceptional James Shelton Trio, this show sets the tone for Black History Month with a night of artistry, nostalgia, and Detroit soul at its finest.
