In conversation with High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia to the UK

Centre for International Studies and Diplomacy (SOAS University London) is delighted to welcome Her Excellency Ms Macenje “Che Che” Mazoka, High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia to the United Kingdom, for a Speaker Series conversation on contemporary diplomacy.

This event offers a unique opportunity to hear directly from a senior African diplomat about the realities of diplomatic life today, both in general and in the context of working in London as a major global diplomatic hub.

The discussion will explore:

• How governments prioritise and deploy their diplomatic assets
• The key issues and responsibilities that shape the work of a High Commissioner

• H.E. Mazoka’s personal career journey, including how she became a diplomat, what drew her to the profession, and the experiences that have shaped her path

The CISD Speaker Series brings students and the wider community into conversation with experienced practitioners, offering insight into real-world diplomacy and international affairs, and exploring how theory translates into practice.
