All You Can Eat isn’t really about food. It’s about what food reveals: love, shame, joy, survival, control, comfort, cruelty, and care. It’s about appetite and what we’re taught to feel about having one.
On March 27, In a Nutshell Storytelling returns to The Sofia with four intentionally crafted, true stories told live by storytellers who will explore the stories we learn, inherit, and create around food.
FEATURED STORYTELLERS
🥄 Anne Rutherford: a (mostly) funny childhood story about resorting to desperate measures to evade the wrath of a tyrannical cook
🍰 Beau Ryder Davis: an audience favorite with a sharp, hilarious take on appetite, excess, and college-era coping
🍽 Keith Staten: a powerful, emotional story about hurt feelings, complicity, and reckoning within a family
🍜 Steph Rodriguez: a beloved (former) Sacramento writer and journalist shares a journey of loss, resilience, and discovery from childhood upheaval to finding her voice through journalism and food writing, eventually passing that sense of curiosity and connection on to her son.
Hosted by Keith Lowell Jensen, who will guide the night with care, humor, and some food stories of his own. (HI, KEITH!)
If you’ve been before, you know these nights lead to great conversations on the way home. If you haven’t been yet, that's okay! Come on in!Tthis is a beautiful night to join us.
