It's time for an open improv workshop with Improverished! Improverished is a joyful improvised theatre company that's been operating since 2015. This is an open workshop that anyone with any level of improv experience is welcome to attend. What exactly we cover will depend on who ends up coming along on the day, but expect some fun improv warmups, some improv games, some laughs and some storytelling.
Never done improv before? You're welcome to come along and try it out! Done tons of improv before? You're welcome to come along too!
Improverished operated as an open all-comers improv company for 8 years until 2023, that meant that every week we were running a workshop that people of all experiences could come along to on a casual basis. It was tons of fun but a lot of work for our workshop leaders. In 2023 we made the decision to move to a set company of people, but accessibility and providing an entry point for new improvisors is still a core part of our kaupapa as a group so we want to bring back our open workshops on a monthly basis to help foster improv skills and joy for new improvisors and new friends.
This workshop is completely free to attend.
This month's workshop will be run by Improverished director/producer Rebecca Mary Gwendolon.
11am-1pm at the Basement Theatre Dojo.
