About the Artist / CollectionMichael is a San Francisco-based printmaker and graphic designer. Block printing became his way to step away from the screen and do something more tactile — every piece in this collection is sketched, carved, inked and pressed by hand. It started simply: a photo traced on an iPad, a friend's suggestion to turn it into a block print, and the realization that he'd finally found a use for the hundreds of photos taken on walks through SF's hidden staircases. Impressions of a City is four years in the making — a culmination of those walks, the city's unexpected views, and a deep appreciation for the neighborhoods that make San Francisco so darn special!
