About this Event

Join the Qatar America Institute for Culture (QAIC) for our second annual IMPART SUMMIT: Congress for Creatives, a platform celebrating the impact of QAIC’s art and cultural programs in both our local and international communities. The summit brings together artists, filmmakers, creatives, and artistic institutions and strives to elicit inclusion through expression and increase intercultural awareness to promote and connect innovators.

This year’s summit will celebrate the culmination of QAIC’s yearlong focus on sustainability in the arts and will feature expert panels and film screenings with current QAIC partners addressing sustainability in olfactory and culinary arts and film. The program will also include a panel featuring our 2021 IMPART artist grant winners, a souq featuring artists, fashion and other community vendors, community-based art making, interactive cultural experiences, and art exhibitions. One dollar of every ticket purchased will be donated to QAIC Cares Partner, the Mokha Institute. Light refreshments are included in the ticket price.

FILM SCREENINGS

Watch the films of the three awardees of our annual Arab Film House Award. Organized in partnership with the Doha Film Institute, the films touch on sustainability and climate change in communities across the Middel East and North Africa.

11:30pm School of Hope - Written and Directed by Mohammed El Aboudi

Follow the lives of three students and the rural community of the Ouald Boukais Tribe as they learn to deal with the effects of climate change and try to establish adequate schooling for their children.

1:00pm Gevar’s Land - Written and Directed by Qutaiba Barjamji

Follow the labour-filled days of Gevar, a Syrian refugee, as he tends to his garden on the outskirts of a housing project in France. The film explores the mysterious power of the earth and exile and questions the idea of territory.

2:30pm Amussu - Written by the Community of Imider & Nadir Bouhmouch; Directed by Nadir Boumouc

Follow the community of Imider (Morocco) as they continue to peacefully occupy a protest camp, the site of an oasis and a planned water pipeline, that they shut down in 2011. Now a small solar-powered village, the community continues to resist any projects on their land through the little means they have – songs, dry bread, weekly protest, a flimsy camera, a film festival and endless ingenuity.

ART

Experience our Perfumery Museum and tour our current exhibitions, including Cultural Crossings: Exchanges Beyond the Silk Road, 2021 IMPART Artists Exhibition, FOCI 2022: Water, and the Official World Cup Posters by Bouthayna Al-Muftah.

Shop and visit vendors throughout the building including This Is Tribute at our Art Souq and watch, dance and participate in a four-hour long Art Party with Aida Murad and DJ Farouq Murad.
