Workshop Description
Have a pair of pants that are too long to comfortably wear? Or a shirt that just doesn't fit but you love too much to discard? Bring your clothes to SCRAP and Tria Connell will teach you how to alter your treasured garments to fit! We believe that clothes should fit our bodies, not the other way around. During this workshop, Tria will be focusing on hemming pants and using darts or adding fabric to change the shape of shirts. If your alteration doesn't meet those categories, don't worry! There will be plenty of time to work on any other garment woes. Come out and learn how to make your clothes last for years to come.
Please note that we have a small number of SCRAP sewing machines! If you have access to a machine please try to bring it in to use
About Tria Connell
I learned to sew at 13, and never looked back! With a degree in Fashion Design, I moved to San Francisco and started designing, patterning, and constructing costumes for drag performers, as well as other non-performing clients. I worked in the technical design department for Esprit, and Old Navy where I strengthened my knowledge of patternmaking and fit. I started at the Academy of Art in 2014, teaching the introductory Fashion Sewing Techniques class, and the Art Experience sewing class for high school age students. Outside of teaching I’m passionate about animal rescue, especially rabbits! I volunteer for SaveABunny. I live with 2 rescue bunnies of my own, and a rescue parrot.
