About this Event
2-2.5hrs – Building on the core 4 formulas learned in Great Cocktails 1, this second course in mixology will focus on additional techniques for enhanced flavor, texture, aroma and appearance, while reinforcing the basics learned previously.
We cover the tools, terminology and techniques behind a good majority of modern and classic cocktails, and provide tips for creating them at your home bar. Learn how to utilize advanced cocktail making techniques like using foaming agents (egg white, aquafaba, etc.) , flips, rinses, swizzles, rims, muddling, dry shake, wet shake, and reverse dry shake.
This class teaches the intermediate techniques of home bartending, the necessary tools and cocktail construction, all through the building blocks of three fundamental cocktails that are easy to misunderstand. Rediscovering these drinks and the ways they can be made will reinforce the core goals of this series of classes:
- Achieve awareness of how you like your cocktails to be made. Everyone likes their steak cooked differently and some people don't like or eat steak. The same holds true for cocktails. We'll focus on understanding your own palate, and preferences for stylistic differences and levels of complexity.
- How to make the drinks (and many more) for your friends and guests while entertaining.
- H ow to order those drinks while out on the town, so that you always get what you want, finding value and more pleasure when spending your hard-earned money on cocktails.
You will leave with a new perspective and a new set of skills that you can build upon in future classes.
