Hosted wine tasting. Expand below for full details.About this Event
The region of Bordeaux is arguably the most important in terms of its cultural and historic impact on the world of wine. So much so, we Brits have been lapping it up with gusto for almost 800 years. There's simply nothing like a freshly uncorked Left Bank claret brimming with the sophisticated scents of a cigar humidor and leather; a rounded texture; and powerful tannins refined and polished with age. But it's not just the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant blends this illustrious region boasts.
There's the criminally underrated whites found in appellations like Graves, combining the romantically intertwined duo of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc, providing the drinker with nutty creaminess and elegant grassiness. Or perhaps you're hedonists like us, and enjoy a small glass or two of the world-famous and sumptuously sweet Sauternes. There's even a style known as Clairette - a historically very dark rosé-like wine that's slowly making a comeback (keep an eye out in trendy wine bars near you!). Join us here at Tufnell Park as we explore everything this beloved and diverse region has to offer.
Our shop tastings start at 7.30pm and run for approximately one-and-a-half to two hours. We will taste 6-8 wines on a theme, and bread, cheese and charcuterie is provided to match with the wines. Due to the communal nature of the tasting, we are unable to cater for dietary requirements.
