What's it about?
"This one time, I bought one ticket to go up to Seattle to see The Cranberries at my first ever concert because I was going through a rough time. But then I got stuck in a bathroom for 5 hours instead" -- IMGONNAWANNA
Set in a crumbling Seattle hotel bathroom, this hour-long piece follows one woman’s comedically raw journey to escape the room she’s stuck in, the choices that put her there, and the fear she may never get out. After extensive development work in Los Angeles with renowned playwright/actor Lauren Weedman (Hacks, Abbott Elementary, Sirens), Jen blends story, character, poetry, movement, and song for IMGONNAWANNA: a meditation on resilience and the absurd ways we fight to stay free when no one is coming to save us.
What audiences are saying:
“A masterpiece of a solo show…”
“Layered and interwoven with hilarious, entertaining elements that seem superficial, but aren’t really. Bits of info that may not make sense yet – then lock into place as the story unfolds”
“Sardonically funny and incredibly well put together.”
“It reminded me of the mime Bill Bowers….”
“Jen moves beautifully and honestly… transitions, characters– all so memorable.”
“The effect was of a slightly manic stream-of-consciousness… wounded but tough, intermittently self-aware, and endearing.”
Performances: IMGONNAWANNA has been performed in Portland at The Siren Theater, in the Whitefire Solo Fest, at Hollywood Fringe and recently premiered in New York at The Tank.
