Hello Friends and Family,
In July of 2025 we opened the doors of Cabildo Ile Orisha and Manos Morenas Cultural Center. Our Ile’s mission is to uplift both the African Diaspora and Indigenous people’s art, culture, and stories. Our recent project, the FREE FOOD! program partners with Empress from Third Eye each Sunday. FREE FOOD! provides market fresh produce and shelf stable products to our community. We aim to reduce food waste and deepen connections with our communities. Every week we give out 40 bags of food to the community. This Sunday you can come through and be a part of our mission, and shop the FREE FOOD! Market.
In the past several months, we have also been hosting self-defense and martial arts classes, afro-cuban folkloric drumming, Lukumi Language classes. The center has hosted several cultural events including the Yemaya y Ochun Festival 2025 showcasing the traditions, arts, and histories of the diaspora.
On March 1st, 2026, we will be launching our Ile Oya Market! This event will be a full day of live music, performances, and hot food! The Ile Oya Market showcases small businesses in our community. Your purchase of a ticket to Ile Oya Market sliding scale of $10-$50, which includes a plate and drink!
AND our FREE FOOD! market will be live from 2:30-4:30 PM. Your donations will directly support us in our FREE FOOD! program and assist us in providing free to low-cost classes to our community. Thank you for your support and time. We hope to see you on March 1st; SAVE THE DATE!
