About this Event
This online course outlines the core responsibilities of practitioners as well as why safeguarding is important and everyone’s responsibility. It will cover:
- signs and symptoms of abuse
- what to do if you suspect abuse
- reducing the likelihood of abuse
- key terms and legal frameworks
- learning from child practice reviews
- contextual safeguarding
- and the importance of whistleblowing.
Desired outcomes
- Apply knowledge from legislation, polices, procedures and guidance for safeguarding children
- Strengthen awareness of your role and responsibilities, and that of others, in safeguarding children and the child protection process
- Understand how to contribute effectively to the identification, assessment and analysis of risk and need to improve the outcomes for children
- Recognise the importance of efficient communication and information sharing in working together to safeguard children.
The training will meet ‘Core’ Level 3 competencies and will contribute to meeting the wider safeguarding children’s competencies, as outlined within the revised Intercollegiate document Safeguarding Children and Young People: Roles and Competencies for Healthcare Staff.
