Have you ever dreamt of living in an intentional community? We’re gathering because we believe there’s wisdom in the attempt. Throughout history, countless people have tried to build lives together more intentionally—with varying degrees of success. Some have created extraordinary places. Others have collapsed in conflict. All of it teaches us something.
Over the coming year, we’ll watch and discuss documentaries centred on intentional communities, ecovillages, and collective living. Not simply as entertainment, but as a shared inquiry. Together we’ll ask: What actually works? What gets in the way? What would we do differently?
This isn’t a club for experts. It’s a space for honest questioning. Some of us dream of starting something. Others are simply curious about what’s possible. Some may just want to observe. Everyone is welcome.
Each screening stands alone, but the real value comes from staying with the questions over time. By the end of the series, we’ll have built a shared vocabulary, tested our assumptions, and perhaps clarified whether we’re ready to take more concrete steps together.
Our first film is *A Simpler Way*, which follows a small Australian community that came together during the 2008 financial crisis to ask: what if we built resilience rather than simply returning to “normal”? They didn’t have all the answers—and still don’t—but they began with gardens, shared meals, and a willingness to be changed by the experiment.
It’s a fitting place for us to begin too: not with a finished blueprint, but with a curiosity—and the courage to gather.
