About this Event
TECHNOLOGIES AND PLATFORMS FOR REMOTE AND AUTONOMOUS BRIDGE INSPECTION
This presentation will explore how recent scientific and technological advancements are enabling more efficient and intelligent structural condition assessment. By leveraging tools such as unmanned aerial systems (UAS), robotics, LiDAR, radar, satellite data, and other non-contact sensing technologies, engineers can identify critical damage earlier, improve inspection accuracy, and reduce the need for disruptive, labor-intensive field work. These approaches support the development of smarter inspection strategies that play a key role in extending the service life of bridge infrastructure.
The hybrid session will also highlight how these technologies contribute to the digitalization of Bridge Management Systems (BMS), enabling more organized, automated, and transparent inspection processes that integrate both structural and asset management data. Attendees will gain insight into how inspection outputs such as damage detection, reporting, and historical comparisons feed into data-driven decision-making and performance prediction models. With a focus on computer vision and AI-supported analysis, the presentation will showcase current developments in remote inspection and geometric assessment, offering a forward-looking perspective on safer, more resilient infrastructure systems.
