About this Event
This is a walk focusing on the history of dogs in London from the famous to the lesser known. We visit statues and graves of some very famous dogs, see the place where Nipper the HMV dog was painted, walk past the Royal Kennel Club, and talk about the dogs of royals and politicians. Learn how some of the iconic breeds we know today came into this country. There are some rags to riches stories too as well as the odd very quirky story. The walk includes visits to some of the best known parks and squares in Londons west end. Away from ‘dogs’ we walk down one of London’s oldest shopping streets to discover some of the shops’ better known customers. Of course we end up in an iconic dog friendly pub. Although the walk is dog friendly, dogs (with the exception of guide dogs) will not be allowed in any of the shops, should we get the opportunity to visit them. Note sometimes it may be possible to visit the Royal Kennel Club but this can not always be guaranteed.
