With 100 Years, Hugo Race and Michelangelo Russo fused blues, ambient and electronica, inspired and unclassifiable. Following European and Australian tours, they're currently working on their next project.Hugo Race brings his haunting vocals, loops and intricate guitar work to the table, Michelangelo Russo, Italian multi instrumentalist, adds layers of psychedelic sounds with his electric harp and percussion skills taking listeners on a sonic journey through moods, eras, genres, darkness and light.
Their performances are known for their improvisational nature, making each show a one-of-a-kind experience.
In 2017, the duo released John Lee Hooker's World Today
(Glitterhouse/Gusstaff Records), a tribute to the blues legendโs delta legacy reinvented in a swirling mix of analog grit and deep trance pulses.
Recorded in a two day live studio session, 100 Years focuses the duo's sonic alchemy on Raceโs evocative songwriting. Electric harmonica, echoing guitars, smoky vocals and primal beats in a hypnotic wall of sound suspended in time and space celebrating endurance and redemption, hand-made from ancient roots.
โTradition does not mean passing the ashes, but the fire.โ
