After presenting this outlandishly titled workshop at the National O.T.O. Conference, Jon will be bringing his observations home to Horizon, where he'll walk you through how you can make the Tarot consistently effective for your own divination! Some say that the Tarot was first developed in Italy in the 15th century. Some trace it back to Ancient Egypt, while others attribute it vaguely to Ancient Wisdom. Some might attest that its origins are to be found in the oldest paintings known to man, lovingly captured in caves dating back to 51,000 years ago. Not to be outdone, we'll be tracing the origins of the Tarot (or specifically how and why it works) to 200,000 years ago, to the period when humans were learning to walk upright, and our frontal lobes were exciting and new!
Jon Sewell (he/him) is a long time member of O.T.O., serving as a Sovereign Grand Inspector General, Chartered Initiator, as the U.S.G.L. Volunteer Coordinator, and a presenter for the Advanced Initiation Training team. During his tenure in the Order, Jon has made it a regular practice to engage in a variety of creative projects including original rituals and adaptations of Crowley’s works.
