How To: Fix Electricals @ Christ Church Hall

Do you have some basic fixing skills or an interest in repair that you’d like to develop?

Join this How To Fix Electricals workshop, where we will learn how to repair the most common items brought into community repair events, together. Work in teams to take a look at a broad range it items, including toaters, lamps (and more), with the support of an experienced repairer.

All skill levels are welcome- including complete beginners and those with some fixing skills/experience already! These workshops are designed for those who would like to start volunteering their skills at repair events but don't know where to start.

Community repair events are pop-up events that prevent e-waste by helping people fix their own electronics. Wanstead Repair Cafe runs regular events in the borough, which rely on volunteers to make the magic happen. The Restart Project and East London Waste Authority (ELWA) have teamed up with Wastead Repair Cafe to deliver this session and meet more people interested in repairing and potentially volunteering at events locally.

Please note:

• These sessions are not repair cafes, where you can bring your items for repair
• These sessions are completely free, all we ask is that you attend a Repair Cafe event as a volunteer to help hone your skills and build confidence and experience in fixing items, under the guidance of our expert repairers
• Under 18's must be accompanied by a parent or guardian
• If this event sells out, we will be prioritising giving tickets to people who live within the borough. If you live outside the borough, we may get in touch with you to cancel your ticket.
• This event is a collaboration between The Restart Project, East London Waste Authority and . By booking a ticket, you consent to your answers being shared with all 3 organisations, for reporting purposes. Your personal information will not be included in any reporting, however ELWA , The Restart Project and Wanstead Repair Cafe may use your name and email address to contact you for follow-up (e.g., to share updates or request further feedback).
