Don’t miss this important presentation about how the landscape and treatment approaches of addiction must change.

Polysubstance use is now the norm rather than the exception, and thus treatment approaches must change. Join Fernando Peña, CADC II, QMHA II, bilingual trainer and Founder and Executive Director of El Jardín Recovery Centers, for a powerful, practice focused session grounded in real world experience. This presentation offers timely, practical insight into today’s rapidly changing drug landscape and provides clinicians, counselors, and behavioral health professionals with actionable strategies they can use immediately to better support individuals.

Through this dynamic in-person or virtual presentation, participants will learn:

  • How addiction treatment has evolved from single substance models to polysubstance informed care, including the impact of changing overdose trends and the modern drug supply (e.g., fentanyl, xylazine) on treatment priorities.
  • Identify key clinical and behavioral health considerations in polysubstance use, including common use patterns, underlying drivers (e.g., trauma, mental health, pain), assessment challenges, and risks related to withdrawal, overdose, and Medic*tion interactions.
  • Apply integrated, trauma informed, and interdisciplinary treatment strategies—including MAT, collaborative care, and recovery oriented supports—to improve engagement, safety, and long term outcomes for individuals with polysubstance use.

*1.75 CEU Hours will be awarded to Social Workers, Counselors, and Marriage & Family Therapists in Washington and Oregon. Please contact your board for specifics on CEU requirements for your license or certification
